Rusty Frog
A detail from a sheet of metal covering the face of an art gallery door. Created in repoussé, the scene overlooks a body of water with a tree on the left, a rock formation with cattails on the right, and (presumably) a high wall with an archway in it (or maybe an old stone-arch bridge) in the background. This frog, having just leaped up and off the rock formation, appears in mid-descent, heading for the water (two other frogs are waiting.) Then you realize the arch in the background can also be read as the trajectory of this frog's aerial path; the scene reads either way, like a delightful optical illusion! By Tucson blacksmith Tom Bredlow. PG101 Monochrome (non B/W) Theme.
